Comprehensive warm up and stretch
Team members are put through a warm up that thoroughly prepares the team for the tough session ahead. Although the warm up is reasonably intense, due care and attention are used to ensure that muscles are warmed up completely and injuries are prevented. Each Instructor is a qualified Personal trainer and therefore a comprehensive stretching format is used.
Competitive running drills
Such as 30 30's (as used by the legendary Tommy Hafey A.F.L coach) , pyramid running. Only groups that use voice and support ever achieve their target.
20 Station fire fighting simulation
Circuit style stations include leopard crawls underneath electrified booms, searches through smoke filled rooms, 20 - 70 kg dummy drags, climbing a 20 story office building staircase, man carries, 65 mil hose drags (full of sand) to name a few. The fire fighting simulation is unique to FIRE UP! and fire fighters.
Boxing circuit ( The Spider )
The entire team dons either boxing gloves or focus pads. This drill is set up like a spider's web. Boxers are placed shoulder to shoulder as they work through an intensive boxing routine. Punch combinations include jabs, uppercuts, hooks, up high punches.
Team Building Activities
FIRE UP! Has devised several team building challenges that players are required to complete. Activities are timed and the pressure is on. These challenges are physical in nature but unlike the previous activities listed, they are not strenuous and provide a lot of entertainment. These activities are a reward for the player's hard efforts throughout the session. Again, the only way players can achieve there goals is by using communication, providing direction and leadership.
Breakfast (included in full day package only)
Included in our longer training sessions is a sensational variety of healthy breakfast. Fresh fruit salads with 4 different low fat yoghurts, assorted mueslis and healthy breakfast cereals with a number of low/no milk and soy milk. We understand that to perform at your optimum players need a good healthy fuel source and we can deliver it. Electrolyte replenish is also provided on request.
Motivational Speaker (Hawaiian Ironman)
To provide the complete team building package, we have employed the services of a current Australian Iron man who has competed at an elite level for over 10 years. This includes events on the international stage such as the Hawaiian Iron man. Our presentation runs for approximately 1.5 hours and is pure inspiration. The power point presentation includes action footage of his assault on the event, the talk is tailored specifically towards the team. Information is sought prior to the talk in relation to the teams history, team members, leadership group, new team members etc. The aspirations of the team are canvassed and the talk is structured specifically for the team.
Highly qualified instructors (Fire Fighters)
Each member of our instructing team are fully qualified group trainers through the VICFIT institution of fitness. Also, Instructors are current professional fire fighters with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade of Melbourne. Instructors have also played in a high level of sport, including captain of the Northern New South Wales Rugby and Soccer teams, Geelong Football Club (A.F.L) and representative rugby teams in New Zealand. Instructors are highly motivated and inspiring. The Instructing team also takes part in every session, side by side with the players. On the day we are all a part of a team.
