Training For Kokoda

Each of the 8 weeks of preparation involves 3 x 1.25 hour training sessions, locations include:

Training Locations

  • Catani Gardens, St Kilda
  • Albert Park Lake, Albert Park
  • Botanical Gardens (Tan Track), Melbourne
  • South Melbourne Beach, South Melbourne
  • The 1000 steps, The Dandenong Ranges
  • The Great Ocean Road, Torquay
  • The You Yangs National Park, Werribee

Alternative locations can be sourced upon discussion if these locations are not close enough to your home.

You will train alongside your expert guides from Kokoda Brothers, a Melbourne and Geelong based company who offer experience and expertise in providing safe, educational and incredibly enjoyable trips.

Each session shall be planned and run by our staff here at Fire Up Fitness. The package is designed to increase your fitness level (what ever that may be) to a level that will enable you to not only complete the track, but more importantly – enjoy it!

We ask for total commitment from you and expect 100% attendance at all sessions.

Each package is designed to suit the needs of each individual group. We understand that people have differing degrees of fitness and this is taken into account with the design of the program.

Each package includes 24 x 1.25hr sessions over an 8 week period, sessions include:

Leading Trainers
  • All Instructors are current Professional Metropolitan Fire Fighters & Personal Trainers
  • Instructors are VICFIT qualified, experienced and highly motivated
  • Sessions include Fire Fighter simulated exercises and drills
Structured Program
  • Comprehensive and regular fitness testing
  • A cross training circuit based format including exercises such as, weights, non contact boxing, body resistance training, plyometrics, soft sand and hill running, tyre pulls, and competitive group activities
  • Thorough warm up and cool down including whole body stretching
Quality Advice
  • Dietary plan / nutrition booklet containing valuable tips and hints!
  • Advice from qualified physiotherapists on request, with opportunity for follow up massage and muscle therapy at reduced practice rates
  • An opportunity to train in some of Victoria’s most pristine and beautiful natural environments
  • Huge emphasis on team work, mate ship and camaraderie, three essential elements for a successful Kokoda Trek
